Elementary
FRCS is set up like many other schools, as far as grade-level learning objectives and scope and sequence are concerned. But that's where the similarities end. We're known for integrating the Bible in every class. PE? Of course. Math? Without a doubt. Science? Can you say creation? Our curriculum includes a mix of Christian and secular publishers for our textbooks and supplemental materials. This approach works well in every subject area we teach including Bible, language arts, math, reading, science, social studies, and our weekly specials classes in art, music and physical education. Fifth and sixth grade students also have the option of auditioning for honor choir. Naturally, all aspects of our educational program are taught in an environment that support your values as Christian parents. At FRCS, your young children will hear more than just Bible stories...they'll learn how to rely on God.
Interested in after school enrichment programs? We've got them. Examples include poetry, writing, drama, sign language, and many others. We also participate in Destination Imagination, a program similar to Odyssey of the Mind, which encourages teamwork, problem solving skills, creativity and both spontaneity and long-range planning.
Spanish immersion - El Puente ("The Bridge")
Imagine having your children learn to be functionally bi-lingual by the time they reach sixth grade. The K-6 Spanish immersion track at FRCS is an educational option for elementary students starting in 2008-09. Students learn the regular grade-level curriculum of Bible, language arts, math, reading, science, and social studies in Spanish rather than English. In other words, students are in the Spanish language while studying the same content as other students. While doing so, they naturally learn to listen, speak, read, and write in the Spanish language. There are three goals of the Spainish immersion track:
- Obtain a solid, Christ-centered FRCS education while acquiring the Spanish language
- Become functionally bi-lingual and bi-literate by 6th grade.
- Develop English language skills that meet or exceed grade level expectations.
Junior and Senior High
If you are interested in your student attending college, the college prep program at FRCS meets or exceeds the entrance requirements of most colleges, including highly selective colleges. We have alumni attending colleges and universities ranging from Wheaton College to the Colorado School of the Mines. Simply put, we're doing our job of preparing our students for future academic success. Should your graduates choose to engage in ministry, attend a trade school, or go straight into the working world, you will be blessed by how well equipped they are to impact the world for Christ.
Arts? Athletics? Innovative programs? Yes, yes, and you betcha! We offer an excellent fine arts program (choir, drama, photography, interior design, etc.). Our athletic program currently includes volleyball, basketball, football, baseball, soccer, golf, and cheerleading/stunt. Exciting new classes are offered in robotics, interior design, forensic science and others. We also have small group Bible studies, known as discipleship groups, that provide opportunities for students to share, pray and disciple others.
Both Junior and Senior High students are given a unique opportunity to participate in annual retreats emphasizing purity education and their faith. Spring Practicum is designed to provide learning environments that stretch beyond the traditional classroom setting. These programs are unique and challenging ways for students to experience the "outside world." Examples of programs include in/out-of-state ministries, 8th grade trip to Washington D.C., studies with local museums and arts programs, assisting various organizations in conserving our state and national parks, etc.
TLC - The Learning Center
Praise God! After years of prayer of how Front Range Christian could meet the needs of the whole family, we are opening TLC (The Learning Center) in the fall of 2008 on our K-12 campus. TLC will be able to serve a wide variety of diverse learners, from gifted and talented to students in the NILD (National Institute for Learning Development) program to students who learn best in a self-contained classroom. We have brand new classroom space specifically dedicated for this program! Plus, you can take advantage of the Christian-owned businesses on campus at Pierce Street Village.
