Why do you teach?
When I graduated from high school, teachers were needed. I received a teaching scholarship for college. Although at the time I did not have a personal relationship with my Lord, He had his hand on me and was preparing me for my teaching career. I enjoy teaching and find it both fun and challenging. It requires the creative process to come up with projects that will be both fun and challenging to the students. Art is intriguing and is just a small part in haring with the Creator of all things. I teach art because I think it is important for the students to be exposed to the creative process. Art is especially important in the development of the right side of the brain. It also helps in the development of eye-hand coordination, fine motor skills and decision making processes. Children’s art is delightful. I teach because I am called to teach. God gave me this passion.
Why do you teach at FRCS?I said, “I will never teach again!” I had been in a public school in Illinois where the school had problems with Satanism. I was praying to move to Colorado; the state I loved as a young girl after a visit with my parents. Through a series of coincidences, I found myself in an interview at this little Christian school for three classes a week. After a bad experience in a public school, God knew what it would take to get me back into teaching. He started me out slowly at FRCS where I could be nurtured and grow into the teacher I was meant to be. I am grateful to be a part of a Christian school where Jesus is the center of the curriculum.
What is your passion in life?
My passion in life is my God and my faith, living as his servant and looking to Him for wisdom and direction. I have a passion to be a good wife and support to my Christian husband. I love and support my church and my church family and my friends. I am passionate for being the best art teacher I can be.
