Todd Lanting

Educational background and experience: Hope College B.S. 1988; Indiana University School of Law J.D. 1991; Denver Seminary M.Div. 2004.  I was an attorney for 8 years before going into ministry full time.  I am also the teaching and preaching pastor at West Bowles Community Church in Littleton.

Why do you teach? I can't help it (Jeremiah 20:9)!  I love the Bible, I love kids, and God's Word holds the key to living.  I am compelled to encouraged and challenge people to live passionately and completely for God, and to love especially the poor and those who struggle.

Why do you teach at FRCS? I deeply believe in its mission to help equip kids to impact the world for Jesus Christ, and I enthusiastically share the same passion for discipling our kids.

What is your passion in life? I love to study and teach God's Word.  I love meditating on it - in Hebrew, "to meditate" literally means "to chew!"  I love to chew on Scripture and share along with others what insights God gives us into his amazing Word.  I have to include Jill, Ben, Dani and Peter on any list of life's passions.  Together with God, they are my motivation, my encouragement, my zest for life.  My family is very near the foundation of my passion for living out loud for God and proclaiming in the wilderness the need to repent.

What are your hobbies and other interests? I suppose you could say Israel is a hobby of mine.  I lead at least an annual trip to Israel with students and adults alike.  I love to explore and study the cultural context of Scripture and what additional insight that lends to God's Word.  I like to play golf, I enjoy watching football, and I really have a blast ballroom dancing with Jill - we're in our second year of lessons with Arthur Murray, and fresh off being named "Newcomer Couple of the Year."
