Rene Meek

Educational background and experience: I am first and foremost the wife of a wonderful husband, Brian, and the mother of 3 amazing children; Kayla (16), Matthew (14), and Katherine (12) and keeping up with schedules as well as maintaining my commitments to them keeps me very busy.   I am a graduate of Colorado State University with a major in History and a focus in Ancient History and Archaeology of the Middle East. During college and since then, God has allowed to continue to learn and gain experience through a variety of ways including - courses through CCU, Regis and ACC in Education and my content area, participation in an archaeological dig for a summer in Amman, Jordan including an extension educational trip to Egypt and Israel, two additional trips to Israel which has increased my knowledge and appreciation of the land and its people, various Biblical courses in both Old and New Testament, the privilege of helping to lead and coordinate Bible studies and discipleship groups over the last 20 years,  participation in Community Bible Study for years, participation in various para-church and church ministries throughout the last 20 years.  I worked for State Farm Insurance for 7years before taking on a Day Care business out of my home during which time I continued taking courses to prepare for teaching. I coordinated the Home-school program here at FRCS for 5 years before coming onto the teaching staff. This is my 7th year teaching here at FRCS. During these years I was able to teach some of my passions – math, physical education, history and of course, Bible.

Why do you teach? I am passionate about learning and young people! I believe God has placed a humbling and challenging calling on my life to facilitate a growing love of lifelong learning in the lives of students. I am fascinated by HOW people learn and desire to utilize effective methods and strategies to reach each individual learner to the best of my ability. I desire to continually acknowledge in humility that any good that I do comes through the power God provides by His Spirit. My desire is to model my own passion for God and love for students through my teaching and my life. I hope to illicit excitement for “so much more” within the subjects I teach.

Why do you teach at FRCS? Put simply, I believe in the mission and vision of FRCS! I desire to be a part of the effort to equip students for life-long learning and to impact the world for Christ. I desire to be a part of the vision to disciple students as together we seek to love God and others and be a blessing to our world. Teaching from a Biblical worldview and participating with parents to form this within the lives of students is something unique to Christian Education and critical to the subjects I teach: History and Bible.

What is your passion in life?  Honestly, it is to glorify God in all that I do by following Christ down whatever path he leads me. I recognize that this is a life-long growing process and at times feel as though I am just hanging on for dear life but I know it is the only life I desire to live.

What are your hobbies and other interests? I love to do many things but included in a list would have to be studying God’s word, singing, running, biking, swimming, hiking, walking, reading (especially historical non-fiction) and most importantly spending time with family and friends (I love to go dancing too!).
