Melinda Jensen

Educational background and experience: I have a bachelor's degree from Colorado State University in Fine art.  I have a Masters in Curriculum and Development, with an emphasis in Aesthetic Education (bringing the arts back into the basic subjects to help support learning.)  I also have training in Project WET, WILD and Learning Tree.  This is my fourth year teaching and my second teaching at FRCS.  I taught for two years before this at a public school.  I have also taught at many different summer camps and also private art lessons.

Why do you teach? I teach because I love seeing the light come on in a child's eye the first time that they get or learn about a concept.  I also enjoy teaching through the arts to reach kids of all learning styles to help them feel more successful at school.

Why do you teach at FRCS?I have felt lead by God for a long time to work with kids and teach them about his amazing love.   I love the community and support that the staff here at Front Range has.  I appreciate the freedom to talk about God on so many levels everyday.

What is your passion in life? My passion in life is to show/ tell others about God in many ways.  In reality I have many passions.  I have a passion to teach children and help them through a very troubled and dark world.  I also have a passion to use the gifts that God has given me through my art to spread his word.

What are your hobbies and other interests?

My hobbies are being outdoors, painting, drawing, listening/playing music, and reading.  I am interested in different cultures and how art reflects a time period and culture.
